Our Bakery

Our family bakery meticulously crafts our goods daily using traditional techniques and the finest ingredients. Committed to simplicity, quality, and flavor, we prioritize local sourcing, milling our whole grains fresh, and incorporating local butter, milk, eggs, flour, and organic ingredients whenever feasible.

To ensure a sufficient supply, we recommend preordering. Our production  commences at midnight and continues throughout the day, with the bakery remaining open until 1 p.m. or until all products are sold.

During our operating hours, please contact us via phone, and speaking to one of us to place an order. Kindly refrain from leaving messages or emails for orders.
-Much love and lots of loaves, Arlo CBB, CVB, CAB
Closed Saturday the 13th of December, No soup for you!

Specials for the week of 12/8/25

Sweet (Daily): Birthday Croissant -
A traditional croissant, baked, then filled with a rich French cocoa cream and cherry filling, baked again, and coated in a cherry simple syrup. It's sorta, kinda, definitely inspired by Black Forest Cake.

I also have some apple pie by the slice this week…!

Savory (Daily): Mushroom Danish - Sautéed Michigan mushroom blend in a savory cheese filling with thyme, garlic and onion. A filling, savory option for cold snowy mornings and slower starts.

Saturday Bread Special: None, I am closed.

Stollen (Now through late December) - Our authentic nut-free stollen is a celebration of tradition and craft — lovingly made with the finest local ingredients and a touch of holiday magic. Ali and I started making stollen when the bakery started about 10 years ago. Each loaf begins with local organic flour, butter and organic eggs from nearby farms, and fresh local milk, all brought together in a rich, gently fermented dough that develops deep, complex flavor over time.
Studded with a mix of American-grown fruit — apple, pear, nectarine, plum, cherry, and raisins --and scented with golden rum and vanilla bean, this stollen is balanced, fragrant, and beautifully tender. After baking, it’s finished with a delicate sugar-coated crust that glistens like freshly fallen snow — a sweet symbol of the season.

A Little History:
Stollen traces its roots to 15th-century Germany, where it began as a simple bread baked for Advent. Over time, with the addition of fruit, butter, and sugar, it evolved into the rich, festive loaf we know today — a bread meant to represent abundance and joy during the holidays.

Our version honors that heritage while keeping it completely nut-free, so everyone at the table can enjoy a slice. It’s a thoughtful holiday gift, a centerpiece for gatherings, and a timeless treat to share with family and friends.

Looking for Our Book?
Check out Early Riser, a book by me, Arlo, about the rhythms of baking, early mornings, and the art of craft. A book really written for those that shop with us and have since the start. This book is more of a memoir than a recipe book, though there are twelve or so bakery recipes in it. A small glimpse at the journey to this day. Available at our store when not sold out, and online retailers.
Find Early Riser online at:
Amazon | Thriftbooks | Bookshop.org

A smaller paperback book (The Loaf I Meant To Bake: A Baker's Journal of Grain, Time & Intention) featuring all naturally leavened products using only local, organic grains, with less story, and more recipes.
