Tecumseh Bread & Pastry is a quaint neighborhood bakery in Lenawee county, having been the first of its kind in the area to offer hand-crafted from scratch croissants, fresh milled & locally grown flour in all products, and delicious crusty sourdough breads without the use of commercial yeast.
Established 2016 in Tecumseh, Michigan, operating out of a catering companies building during off-hours, we quickly became a small-business with a wonderful following of customers thanks to our community and commitment to our standards.
Today we still operate only as a husband and wife duo to make our fine selection of daily breads and pastries and are proud to have become the first certified Viennoiserie & double certified Guild baker in the US, and one of the first three Certified Artisan Bakers through the BBGA.
We are a beautiful, small, loving shop, and bake all things fresh each morning and mill the local whole-grain flour ourselves, truly the peak of freshness in terms of baking. We gauge our success not on a dollar value, bank account or amount of locations we have, but on the quality and consistency of the product that day and the amount of friends and neighbors enjoying the moment with us. This means we seek exceptional quality in order to succeed. We are two people, and work hard to feed many. We do our best with our time, skill, strength and our backs each day, and gladly on that note -putting our hearts into it as well.
Over the years we have had the privilege thanks to the bakery of meeting new friends from around the world, seeing families raise children, seeing kids the height of the counter now about to go to college, witnessing families bring new life into the world, watching good friends & customers come and sometimes just leave us with just their memories as they part. On a busy morning you'll see the seats full and hear the commotion of my mixer, rolling pin, my wife helping customers, different languages spoken at times, and folks of all kinds enjoying baked goods and the moment they all helped create. Our bakery has evolved over the years to where it is now, and it is thanks to the support of those mentioned who come in each day looking for really great bread & pastries.
